Honam Chapter of the Architectural Structural Engineers Association Visits KCMT… Discusses Expanding Application of GFRP Design
2025.10.30
On Wednesday, the 29th, 15 members of the Honam Chapter of the Korean Institute of Structural Engineers visited the KCMT headquarters.
This visit was organized by J&C Global Co., Ltd. (CEO Choi Hyung-beom), the chair company of the Honam Chapter, and served as a forum to discuss expanding the design application of GFRP (Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer) and structural review methods.

J&C Global is the primary design firm for Jeil Construction's ‘Jeil Fengjingchai’ apartment series and is a company possessing high expertise in the domestic residential architecture design field.
This visiting delegation directly toured KCMT's production site for its eco-friendly GFRP reinforcement product ‘KEco’ and examined its structural characteristics and actual application cases in detail.

The main discussion points are as follows:
1. Measures to expand the application of GFRP during the architectural and civil engineering design phase
2. Review criteria and improvement directions for GFRP structural design
3. Review of application methods within domestic design standards such as KDS and KCS

During this visit, members of the Honam Chapter directly observed GFRP's various advantages, including corrosion resistance, lightweight properties, and ease of construction. They expressed strong interest in the potential for expanding GFRP's use as an eco-friendly structural building material.
A KCMT official stated, “GFRP is a future-oriented construction material that can simultaneously achieve carbon neutrality and enhanced durability,” adding, “We will strengthen cooperation with structural engineers from the design stage to establish practical application standards.”
This visit served as a meaningful bridge for cooperation between industry and design experts. KCMT plans to continue leading the paradigm shift toward eco-friendly construction through diverse technical exchanges and collaborations.
